Angel Services

Grieving the loss of a child is a process that begins the day you lose your child and ends the day you join them.

Tiare is here to guide you through this most difficult of times.

Losing a child

Our team would be honoured to speak to you about saying your goodbyes. Should you choose to meet with us, we encourage you to bring a box of mementos that remind you of your child, such as photographs or favourite toys. This will help us to gain a better understanding of your family and will enable us to create a deeply personal farewell.

We offer natural burial, traditional burial and cremation services for children. We aim to create a service that is true to your child’s spirit and that brings comfort and peace to you and your family.

We will be there for you after the service too, offering monthly Sitting with Grief Circles where you can connect with others who have suffered and are living through similar loss.

Our Angel Services

The loss of a child is one of the most painful things that a parent can endure. Not only have you lost your precious child and the special bond you shared but the hopes and dreams you held for their future have been taken from you. Living through your grief to find a place of healing will be a long and emotional journey.

We are here to help, support and guide you. We will create a unique and heartfelt service to honour your child and help you to remember the special bond that you shared, however brief.

Coping with the loss of a child

Here are some ways to express your grief after the loss of your child:

  • Talk to and about your child and the feelings you have for them.

  • Collect mementos such as ultrasound pictures, footprints, a lock of hair, a hospital bracelet, photos, clothes, blankets or toys. Put them in a special box or scrapbook. Keepsakes like these can help you grieve your loss

  • Write your thoughts and feelings in a journal or write letters or poems to your child. Tell them how you feel and how much you miss them.

  • Light a candle or say a prayer in honour of your child. You can also do this on holidays or special days, like their birthday or anniversary.

  • Read books and poems or listen to music that you like and find comforting.

  • Plant a tree or a small garden in honour of your baby.

  • Have a piece of jewellery made with your baby’s initials or birthstone.

  • Donate to or volunteer for a charity in your baby’s name or give something to a child in need who’s about the same age as your child would be.

  Tiare Compassionate Project

Offering Support in Times of Loss

Where It All Started

Our founder Charmaine was diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy and was advised to terminate.

Wanting to give her baby the best chance of survival and with her protective instincts kicking in, Charmaine ignored doctors’ advice and continued to carry her baby to term.

It was a difficult journey to bring Florence into the world, there were setbacks and near losses and when she was finally born, she stopped breathing. Thankfully with the help of the amazing midwifery team, Florence came back to us.

Charmaine is so thankful for the gift of her warrior baby but often relives the pain of almost losing her. Those emotions fuelled a desire to help families experiencing loss and led to the creation of our compassionate project.

What is Tiare Compassionate project?

Tiare Compassionate Project is an initiative created by Tiare Funerals and Deathcare, dedicated to providing comfort and support during such a difficult time.

We have worked hard to reduce the financial costs for families who have suffered the loss of a baby through stillbirth.

  • We offer free transfers, bathing and dressing

  • We provide a complimentary cardboard coffin for your little love.

  • We can cover the cost of cremation thanks to our partnership with Tweed Valley Hospital. If your baby was born in another hospital, a direct cremation fee of $135 applies. This fee is related to a payment that we are required to pay to the crematorium. No other costs will be involved.

  • For those choosing burial, we are happy to work with the family on a service that suits their budget.

There are no words of comfort when you have lost a child, your heart cracks open and the silence can be deafening.

We are here to sit in the stillness with you.
